Sandip comes from Kathmandu and has been living in Ireland with his wife and their 3 children. He noticed the popularity of Nepalese goods in Ireland when he gave presents to his family from Nepal, particularly the hats and he wanted to work with the people of Nepal to bring the hats to Ireland and provide warmth and comfort for the Irish weather. The designs come in lots of different colours and patterns, some with bobbles and some without. All the hats are named after Irish and Nepali mountains.
The words Hata meaning hat in Irish and Matics from the Greek for maths came together when deciding on a name for the business with Sandip’s eldest son who loves maths!
